Arisi Upma / Rice Upma (No onion/ No garlic)

Arisi Upma ( Rice Upma)

Ingredients:
Rice : 400 Gms
Curd : 1 Cup (for Soaking Steamed Rice)    

For Saute
Green Chillies : 4 in Nos
Red Chillies : 3 in Nos
Curry leaves
Grated coconut - 1 Cup
Mustard
Urad Dhal
Channa Dhal

Pre Preparation:

1. Soak the Rice in Curd for about an hour. It is optional to wash the rice. Post an hour, grind the rice in to a coarse texture.

2. Masala for Arisi Upma
Toor dhall : 25 Gms
Pepper : 10 to 15 in Nos
Jeera : 10 gms
Asafoetida : for flavouring

Grind the Urad Dhal, Pepper, Jeera and Asafoetida in to a coarse powder as shown below.

Preparation Steps:

1. Pour oil for saute purpose, add the masala items provided below 


2.   Include them in the order of Mustard Seeds, Urad Dhal, Channa Dhal, Green chillies, Red Chillies ,and Curry Leaves. Once the Dhal are fried well, add the masala powder grinded in to a coarse texture and sauté it well.














3. Add the grated coconut on top of this mixture. Ensure you don't saute the coconut well as once cooked, we can't feel the fresh coconut while tasting the recipe. It will taste yummy when we get the grated coconut while having this upma.









4. After adding the grated Coconut, add the finally grinded soaked rice on top of this mixture. 
Mix them well and add 3 parts of Water to the Rice we had used. Add required salt to taste and Pressure cook in Cooker for 3 whistles.
















5. After Cooker pressure is released, mix the contents well and Yummy Arisi Upma is ready to serve.
